Are you trying to record quality podcasts for your audience to listen to? It takes more than simply a piece of paper to read from and a decent microphone to record your voice. There are many considerations to make to ensure a quality podcast recording session, and heading into the activity without any prep will not do you any good in producing podcasts you can be proud of.

That being said, whether you’re recording alone or interviewing someone, there are many things you can do to improve your podcasts’ quality ten-fold, and here they are:

1. Offer Engaging Content

No matter how good the podcast recording is, all will be for nothing if the content isn’t engaging or valuable to the audience. As such, you should never forget to spend the time understanding what makes podcasts so attractive and also spend more time developing content that your audience loves to listen to. This way, even if your recording isn’t top-notched in terms of sound quality or the like, it will still attract plenty of audiences compared to an excellent sounding recording with terrible content.

2. Keep Yourself Hydrated

It is easy to find yourself carried away talking about all sorts of things, not realizing that your voice has turned for the worse. To ensure that your voice doesn’t go harsh or disappear until the next day, always remember to stay hydrated. Also, don’t be afraid to go to the restroom mid recording. It is way better for you to drink lots of water and go to the restroom than to not drink at all in an attempt to record for long hours.

3. Take Breaks Once in a While

Talking for long hours might seem easy to do, but really, it can drain your energy. Of course, you shouldn’t randomly take breaks whenever you feel like it. Instead, segment the recording into multiple parts, where you can take breaks in between. During this time, not only can you rest your voice for more chit-chatting later, but you can also do other things such as go to the restroom, drink more water, double-check the audio, and the like.

4. Listen to Everything That You Record

When the recording’s done and dusted, sit down and listen to the entire thing. Though you may not like your voice, you must do so. You can only pick out any issues you may have missed during the editing session by listening back to your recording. Also, if you like a particular sound quality from a certain setup, you can try and mimic the recording sessions to ensure a consistent result everything you hit that record button.

Conclusion

There are plenty of other things you can do to ensure your podcast recordings are top-notch, such as including audio cues to point out mistakes, muting the microphone when you aren’t talking, covering yourself and the mic with a blanket to mute out unnecessary sound, and more. We can go on and on, but the above tips we’ve shared today are some of the most essential tips you need to be following. Sure, tips like “drink water” might seem obvious, but you’d be surprised to see how many people forget to drink water and how much it affects recordings. Regardless, be sure to apply the tips we’ve shared today, and you’ll soon notice a jump in quality in your podcasts!
